I haven’t written in a long time. It’s been 2.5 months since I last wrote an article. The truth is that this semester caught me by surprise. This semester I decided to challenge myself by taking 8 courses or 25 credit hours. I thought that if I don’t do this, I’ll never know who I really am. I once heard that you show your true character by how you react to challenges.
I’m not going to lie to you, but this has been one of the most challenging semesters of my life, and I’m still only halfway through it. There is so much more to come. From this point onwards, it will only get more challenging, and I have accepted that it will and that I will need to work 10 times as hard to produce the results that I need. I’ve seen most people try and only fail because they didn’t have the willpower. I was told by many that I’m crazy, that I will burn out, or that it is impossible to keep it up, but this will become normal for me when I get through this semester. I will show everyone that it is possible.
This is why you should always aim to challenge yourself. Break the boundaries created by your mind, society, and the people in your life. As the great Zig Zigler said, “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations”. The challenges you set for yourself won’t be easy. They will most probably test you in the most unexpected ways possible, but believe me, the outcome will be far more beautiful in its own way.
How to Challenge yourself
Recently I started going to the gym at 5 am in the morning, since lockdown and SOP’s and whatnot, but I could’ve taken the easy way out and gone during the day, but I did not. I choose to wake up at 4:30 am and go to the gym at 5 am because it is a challenge, and I must say it’s easy. I get my first task of the day done, and the rest of the tasks start to fall like dominos. Waking up at 4:30 am has by far been the best decision I have made in a while.
So the point I am trying to get across is that doing challenging things doesn’t necessarily have to be huge. It could be slight changes that you never thought you would make. It’s all about getting out of your comfort zone, and that is what makes something challenging.
I encourage you all to take up a challenge in your life, whether work-related or even mentally related. Just try to challenge yourself every day because that’s how you improve yourself and your life. Trust me, you will thank yourself that you took up that challenge later on in your life because I guarantee you it will make you better or make you feel better in some way, shape or form.
